Episode 5 – Help to heal your heartache with heart chakra balance

Do you suffer from heartache?

Have you experienced heartache recently? Do you have difficulty with finding love or relationships? If so, you need to learn how to help heal your heartache with heart chakra balance! In this podcast, I am going to discuss various ways to balance your heart chakra.  This energy center is integral for our connection to other people and is extremely important! The heart chakra is in a pivotal location and it is how we get in touch with our Higher Self in relation to the rest of the world and even the universe 1.

The heart chakra is one of the 7 chakra centers in our body! Even though it is a separate chakra, all of them are interconnected and relate to one another! If you haven’t listened to my other chakra episodes, I would encourage you to listen to those first, as the balance of heart chakra is tied into the balance of these chakras.  For example, if your root chakra is blocked,  a little amount of energy from your six other chakras will filter down and out of your body.  If you are unfamiliar with chakras, please go to my first podcast, which is the Keto diet and Chakra balance for your health. In this episode, I discussed the chakra system and how it is related to the keto diet.

 

Overview of the heart chakra

Now, let us get to talking about the heart chakra! The other name for the heart chakra is Anahata. This chakra is the center of your body’s energy universe It sits over your physical heart and regulates energy flow, in the same way, that your physical heart regulates blood flow. This is where heartache can sit and the deepest affection2! When we love and accept ourselves and others, this chakra is in balance!

How do you know if the heart chakra is blocked?

It is very easy to know if this chakra is out of order! If you have hate or resentment towards a person or yourself then this chakra is out of order. If you have incurred a loss either through death or divorce, then this chakra is at play. Pay attention to your feelings, if it is hard to let some of these emotions go, then it is time to balance this chakra. If you are struggling, reach out to help to heal your heartache for heart chakra balance.  People always tell you time will heal. I think that this is true, but if you can do things on your own to expedite the healing process, then it will not only help to save you mentally by physically as well.

 

Physical dysfunctions if the heart chakra is not balanced

If you don’t heal your heartache for heart chakra balance, then some serious physical dysfunctions can come into play. When I first learned of this, it was a wake-up call for me.  About 9 years ago, my mom suddenly passed away. It was completely unexpected and it literally “broke my heart”. Back then, I did not know of the chakra system, but looking back it would have been very useful to know about this energy center. I think it would have really helped me with the grieving to know about the heart chakra system. Since I did not know about the heart chakra or any for that matter, I still carry the energy from her passing. Fortunately, now I have acknowledged how important the chakra system is and I am learning to repair myself through things such as meditation, yoga, or any other way that will help mend a chakra.

If you don’t tend to the heart chakra, then some serious things can come about. Some of the manifestations include congestive heart failure, heart attack, heart disease, asthma/ allergies, lung cancer, bronchial pneumonia, lung disease, breast cancer, and high blood pressure. These are scary right? Now, when you are hearing about these always keep in mind that if you under treatment of a physician continue seeing them. I would never suggest you stop your treatment! You never know, if you learn to open your heart chakra, things may improve over time!

If you don’t have any of the above conditions and have been experiencing an imbalance in the heart chakra, I suggest that you take what I am telling you as a warning sign. Do things now to relieve your heart chakra if you are grieving! Do not wait until you get a serious diagnosis because then it may be too late.

Heart Chakra Balancing

Meditation

Mantras

I am going to first talk about meditation to balance the heart chakra. When trying to balance this chakra, you should use the following mantras, ” My heart space is harmonious, I love myself with compassion, all love resides within me, and I am love3. Once you say these mantras over and over to yourself, you will start to really feel them and will convince yourself! When focusing on the heart chakra, I like to meditate by placing a green aventurine gemstone on my chest, near my heart space.

Using essential oil and stones during meditation

Essential oils and stones are wonderful to help heal heartache for heart chakra balance! First, you will want to take the essential oil that is tailored toward the heart chakra and put it on your hands.  After this,  proceed to rub the gemstone between your hands to release the energy. Afterward, when you lay down, place it on your chest, close to where the heart is located.

I then put my hand on top of one another, on my chest where my heart space is located and establish a connection. While doing this I like to envision an emanating green light. It is funny because sometimes I won’t even be thinking of the green light and it will just automatically pop up in my mind when meditating. While I am doing this, I close my eyes and listen to solfeggio frequencies,  and start saying the mantras I mentioned above. I wait for feedback and usually get several different phrases or pictures that will come up in my mind. Sometimes I will remember them but sometimes not. I have started to keep a journal so that I can wake up and write these experiences. It is almost like a dreaming except that you aren’t really asleep, you are in a state of relaxation.

If you should choose to do the meditation as I do, then I would highly suggest that you reserve 10 minutes or more to really absorb the benefits of your practice. If you want to do more than do it!  After all, you are giving your energetic body precious nutrients. It is like taking vitamins!

Gemstones

Gemstones are great to help to heal heartache for heart chakra balance! The gemstones which are good for balancing the heart chakra include rose quartz, emerald, green tourmaline, jade, green calcite, green kyanite, and peridot 4. Remember, as I’ve mentioned before, always cleanse these stones prior to using them! This is so you can eradicate all of those old energies of others who may have handled them before you. One of my favorite ways to clean them is by using white sage. You can find white sage on my Recommendations page under chakra balancing.

As I mentioned in my previous podcasts, there is an essential oil and stone kit that I recommend, which also can be found in my Recommendations section under chakra balancing. I love this kit because it has a blend of several different essential oils that are tailored to balancing each chakra. Do whatever you can to try to acheive that balance in your life! Recently, I purchased Chakra bracelets for me and my daughter. They are so cool because they have stones to each of the seven chakras! I definitely can feel more of a connection when wearing them!

Yoga

Next, we get to talk about yoga and how it can heal heartache for heart chakra balance! If you have listened to my prior podcasts, you know that I am a big YOGI. Yoga is great for balancing the heart chakra on so many levels. You don’t have to do an advanced flow to get the benefits from yoga for the heart chakra or any chakra for that matter! If you are into very gentle yoga, all you would have to do is the Seated Spinal Twist, Eagle, or Bridge pose. Some more intermediate to advanced poses may include upper backbends, such as the Camel pose.

I love heart chakra balancing yoga! Some of these poses are my favorite and I can really feel the difference when doing them. If you are interested in a good free heart chakra balancing yoga, just go to youtube and type in yoga with Adriene heart balancing or Cat Meffan’s heart balancing yoga. The link for Adriene’s is here or Cat Meffan’s is found here.  I have found both of them to have very solid approaches to yoga.

I remember when I first started doing yoga, I was so clumsy and could hardly hold any of the balances. However, after doing yoga almost every day for a year, I have noticed a progression in my practice. I still can’t do some of the advanced poses such as a headstand but I am getting there. At least now, I can do a shoulder stand.  I don’t like to do yoga to look fancy or show off with poses, I like to do it because of how it makes me feel. There is a definite connection after I practice and it is an addiction. It helps to give me more of a sound mind and patience. It is wonderful! I highly recommend that you partake if you are able.

Other heart chakra balancing tools

There are other great ways to open up your heart chakras and to help heal heartache for heart chakra balancing! One of my favorites is buying yourself a bouquet of roses5. That’s right, if you feel heartbroken, just head out to the store and purchase some gorgeous red roses. Place them on your dining room or kitchen table and admire them. Maybe while you are looking at them you can say a few mantras that I mentioned earlier such as, “I am loved” or ” I love myself.” If you are harboring any angry feelings, maybe you think about forgiveness while looking at the roses. Do whatever it takes to really feel the love while sulking in the beauty of the roses. It really works!

Another cool trick is to buy some rosebud tea! These tiny rosebuds, which you can buy at herb shops, specialty tea shops, and at many health food stores, are a Chinese medicinal herb. 6 Just steep these buds in a large mug of hot water for a few minutes and create a habit of saying loving words to yourself such as, ” I am loved, etc” Maybe you can even do this while looking at beautiful roses you have purchased at the store. Be creative!

Keto diet and heart chakra balancing go hand in hand

Did you know that the keto diet and heart chakra balancing are tied into one another? Keto diet is great for helping to heal heartache for heart chakra balance!If you consume a diet high in sugar, then you will have a hard time forgiving yourself or others. It will also be hard to really feel the mantras of love. The ketogenic diet (KD) is a low-carb diet that substantially changes the energetic matrix of the body including the brain. Preclinical studies, case reports, and case series have demonstrated antidepressant and mood-stabilizing effects of KD. Following a keto diet will give you a calm mind to optimize your daily functioning. It all comes down to those ketones! It turns out that the brain actually prefers ketones for fuel and as a result, you are happier!

Just the other day, I decided to have some ice cream that was not keto-friendly. I found that afterward, I felt more frustrated and not happy. I also had a terrible headache! So that confirmed to me that I just need to stray away from sugar!

Starting the keto diet

Now, when you first get started with the keto diet, you may not always feel happy because of the transition. However, you will find that over time, you will learn that if you eat high carb foods it will make you a lot grumpier. It is a process! Once you are in ketosis for a couple of weeks, you will feel better and will be in a good mood. When you first start the keto diet, you will want to restrict your net carb intake to 50 or less for about 3-6 weeks. After that point, you can add in more carbs, about 2-3 days a week. I suggest that even those days you increase the carbs that you stick around 100-150 net carbs! I do understand that there will be days where you may have more, like if you go to a wedding or birthday and indulge and a non-keto friendly cake. It’s okay! It’s not like you do this all the time! Right?

Heart chakra balancing as an essential process

Learning to balance your heart chakra is an essential step towards healing! You cannot go through life angry at the world and holding grudges towards other people. It will be impossible for you to heal! I have learned a long time ago that harboring these emotions only hurts ME in the long run. I know letting anger go is easier said than done! Trust me, I have been there many times. However, once you learn to do this, you will find that you will feel better ! Being healthy is more than just diet, exercise, and supplements! It is our energetic wellness too! If you don’t focus on getting yourself mentally sane, then it will be hard for you to have that energetic balance. As a result, your chakras will be all out of whack.

My mission is to teach you that there is more to life than the keto diet! Yes, the keto diet is wonderful, but you have to tend to your well-being too. Once I learned this a year ago, it opened up my eyes. I remember I used to always focus on eating really healthy, exercise, and supplements. I can not begin to tell you how much money I have spent on supplements that probably were not even necessary.

So, that is why I am here! I want to provide a foundation by imparting knowledge to you about achieving wellness not only through a keto diet but also energetically. You deserve this!

Episode 4 – How balancing your solar plexus chakra can help with weight loss

Hi! I’m Jessica. In this podcast, I will discuss how a balanced solar plexus chakra can help with weight loss! You may ask, “What is the solar plexus chakra, and how can it help with losing weight?” Let me give you a brief answer for now. You can think of this chakra as an intense energy center that helps you say “no” to that doughnut! If you have listened to my previous three podcasts, I discussed the chakra system and how integral they are to helping your body acheive wellness. Overall, we may explore different weight loss ventures, but tend to discount our willpower’s energetic force. It is this energetic balance that gives us the ultimate drive to self-restraint. In this article, I will explain how to improve your ability to say “no” to that bag of chips by balancing your solar plexus chakra.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)

This chakra comes in third when anatomically working your way up on the body from the root and sacral chakras. It is the chakra that corresponds with our personality, self-esteem, and sense of worth. 1 According to Yogapedia, the solar plexus chakra corresponds with the energy of personal power. It governs willpower, well-being, and achievement; hence, in yogic teaching, it is believed to radiate positive energy to the lower chakras as well as feelings of love up to the heart chakra.2

How can you tell if your solar plexus chakra is not in order?

Overall, there are several ways to tell if this chakra is out of balance! Of course, the most obvious one that we already mentioned is a lack of willpower. Do you feel the need to eat everything in your pantry? Guess what? Your solar plexus chakra probably needs some work! It may also be out of harmony if you have struggled with a sense of self-worth. If you strive to respect yourself and have self-pity, then you should also focus on this chakra.
Besides, the solar plexus chakra being important for weight loss, it is also essential to keep it in check to prevent manifestations of illnesses. Some physical dysfunctions can include anything from arthritis to hepatitis or diabetes.7 If you want to read more about this, go here.

A balanced solar plexus chakra and weightloss

For you to achieve self-restraint, it is crucial to balance your solar plexus chakra. You can fast all day long or follow a keto diet, but if you don’t have the willpower to know when to stop eating, you will not lose weight. As a clinician, I have people tell me that they don’t understand why they aren’t losing weight when following a keto diet or intermittent fasting. First of all, it does come down to if you eat more calories then your body can consume, you don’t lose weight and may even gain ( you can read more about this in my Keto-Carb Cycling post). However, when further analyzing this, it goes down even further than that! It is all about your energetic balance at that time!

Can you remember a time when you lost weight while doing a particular diet? You may not have realized it, but you probably had a well-aligned solar plexus chakra during this timeframe! Think about it? During that time, you had improved self-worth because you wanted to eat beneficial things! You did not want to consume that ice cream or cookie because you knew that it would interfere with your image. You felt good about yourself and wanted to do good things for your body! So you see, it is vital to have a proper mindset before any dieting.

Solar plexus chakra balancing

There are several ways to balance your solar plexus chakra to have weight loss. I am going to go through several of them. You can pick one method or do all of them. That is entirely up to you! I recommend incorporating several techniques into your life to achieve maximum benefits. After all, the whole goal here is for you to lose weight, so why not improve your odds.

Sleep

I am mentioning this one first! Sleep lays the ultimate foundation for any type of chakra balance. If you don’t sleep, then it will be hard even to have the motivation to take time to balance your chakras. Sleep is essential for mindset, but physiologically if you don’t get snooze time, a hormone called ghrelin increases to make you hungrier. There is increasing evidence from laboratory and epidemiologic studies indicate that insufficient sleep may be a risk factor for obesity.  3.

It is of utmost importance to put sleep as a priority in your life! You need to take whatever measures possible to get a good night’s rest. Recently, I have implemented better sleep hygiene in my own life. I know it is hard, but you just have to be regimented before going to bed. For instance, I love watching TV the night before bed, but I decided to stop to improve my sleep quality. Stopping TV before bed is one of the essential steps to follow to improve your sleep hygiene. This is just one of the many It is necessary to implement good sleep hygiene in your life to improve your sleep.

If you have insomnia or hot flashes, then consider ordering a Chilipad. Recently, I just ordered one! The Chilipad works by cooling off your body temperature at night, which will also help you sleep deeper! I highly recommend you consider one too to improve your sleep! Did you know that there is data from 765,000 Americans which showed that an increase in nighttime temperatures increased their self-reported nights of insufficient sleep 12?

Strong research shows that warmer temperature can lead to worse sleep duration, shallow sleep, difficulty falling asleep, and lower sleep satisfaction13. Yikes! In fact, according to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF) suggested that the ideal bedroom temperature is somewhere between 15.5 degrees C (60 degrees F) and 19.4 degrees C (67 degrees F)14.

Meditation

Meditation is a great way to balance the solar plexus chakra along with all the other ones! By meditating, you will allow yourself to be more mindful of your surroundings. It is essential to carve out at least 5-10 minutes of your day to do this. When people picture meditating, they tend to envision people sitting up in Lotus Position or a meditation pose. You don’t have to do this to meditate! When I meditate, I do it lying down with music to get me in that mind state. I would recommend you start with a guided meditation, especially if you are a beginner. You can go to YogaDownload.com. They have a guided meditation, which will help lead you into a deep relaxation, which will aid the mind-body connection into restoration.

Adopting a meditation practice is all about mindfulness and has little to do with any religion. It is all about being present and learning to live, not thinking about the past or future. It is beneficial with anxiety and for nurturing your solar plexus chakra. If you meditate and feel present, it will, in turn, increase your self-worth because you feel confident to deal with the here and now. When we think of the past or future too much, it increases our worry, which will diminish our self-esteem.

Affirmations

When you meditate, it is good to say affirmations to yourself. In other words, you want to incorporate positive sayings to promote body healing. Affirmations for health can help you to heal your life 4.  I highly recommend a book by Louise Hay; the name is Heal Your Body. You can find it on my Recommendations page under books. Reading this book, you will realize the connection between our mind and body! It is amazing how many positive affirmations she comes up with for the different diseases or symptoms.

Now let us explore some different affirmations that will help with the solar plexus chakra. Some mantras may include ” I can,” ” I am strong and powerful,” ” I radiate light as the central sun of my universe,” ” I am enough,” or “I manifest my reality.” These are just a few; I’m sure you can incorporate more! However, I would start by saying these when you are meditating to heal your solar plexus chakra.

Yoga

Yoga has to be one of my favorites when it comes to balancing the solar plexus chakra for weight loss! There are so many benefits from yoga; it is fantastic. Some of the benefits to boot include improving posture, flexibility, increased bone health, increased immunity, improving focus, decreasing anxiety, deep sleep, great exercise, weight loss, and more! I like it because I can do it right in the comfort of my own home. So convenient! It doesn’t get any better than that. The solar plexus chakra is the center of personal power and confidence, so any pose that moves with a lot of energy, makes you feel strong, fans the flame of your inner fire, or asks that you middle spine be flexible would suffice 5. Some of the best poses include Cat Pose, Cow Pose, Sun Salutation, Boat Pose, or Half Boat pose. Leg lifts are also very effective, or you can try breathing exercises like Breath of Fire or Bellows Breath.6

Essential oils

Another good way to open up your solar plexus chakra for weight loss is by using essential oils. The essential oils which are pertinent for this chakra are cardamom, chamomile, lemon, lemongrass, marjoram, and peppermint 8.  When purchasing these oils, it is always good to get them in the purest form. You can place them in a diffuser and enjoy or even in your bath to get benefits. I like to put them in a diffuser when I meditate or rub them on my wrists. Typically, I pick the corresponding essential oil for the chakra that I feel like I need to balance at the time. Another way to enjoy their benefits is by placing them in your hands and rubbing them together to create friction to release the scent. When you rub your hands jointly, you will find that it releases the energy of the oil 9. If you learn to use essential oils in your everyday life, there are numerous benefits. Crystals

Crystals are an excellent tool to open up that solar plexus chakra to lose weight! To use them, you want to make sure that you clean them. When you clean the stones, you are removing all the old energies from the people who previously used them. I like to wash mine with sage after I purchase them. Some good crystals for opening up the solar plexus are amber calcite, citrine, sunstone, and tiger’s eye 11.

Grounding

Did you realize that grounding can help to open up your solar plexus chakra in an indirect way? Maybe you aren’t sure what grounding is or the benefits?  Grounding is connecting with the earth both physically and spiritually. It is the key to physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being. It creates emotional stability, and calms and clarifies the mind. If you have listened to my prior episode on the Root Chakra, you probably remember that grounding is good for opening up the Root Chakra. Well, guess what? It is important to balance the Root Chakra first before we proceed to others, or we will lack the stability and rootedness necessary for true transformation and personal growth15.

When it comes to grounding, you can go outside and take off your shoes and put your bare feet on mother earth! First, make sure that the conditions are favorable! Also, realize that it can’t be concrete or rocks. You have to establish that direct connection to get the full effects of grounding. Other ways to open up your Solar Plexus Chakra

Anything that builds your self-confidence or your power will serve to open your solar plexus chakra for weight loss. Have you wanted to take up Tae Kwon Do? Then do it! Martial arts are excellent for strengthening your power10. If you had something else in mind for boosting your confidence, then try it out. Do things outside of your comfort zone! It will be worth it when you have this chakra open up and lose weight. Another thing that you can do to open up this chakra is wearing yellow clothing! So yes, pull out that canary color shirt that you haven’t worn in years and put it on!

Adopting a keto diet to help open up your Solar Plexus Chakra

Did you know that even the Keto diet could help open this up? Think about it. The keto diet makes you feel better because you are eating low carbohydrates, and as a result, you are producing those feel-good ketones. By doing this, you are fueling your brain to function off of ketones and not glucose. The brain loves this! As a result, you overall feel good and have more energy. Ketones will fuel your brain, which will, in fuel, your motivation to keep that solar plexus in line! If you want to read more about the Keto diet, you can go here.

Specific chakra opening up foods

Do you realize there are also specific foods that will help the solar plexus open up? Yes, it is true. These foods include squash, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, lentils, yellow and orange peppers, lemons, corn, yellow pears, golden apples, brown rice, oats, and spelt. 16 Now I know this list is not “keto-friendly,” so to speak( except the peppers and lemons). However, you can incorporate those on your Keto-Carb cycling days.

Solar plexus chakra healing is a step towards a journey towards wellness.

In conclusion, please remember that healing your solar plexus is a big step in the right direction. Overall, it is essential to take time out to care for yourself to get to wellness. If you are stressed out and feel anxious, stop whatever your doing and take several deep breaths. Or maybe go for a walk, do yoga, ride a bike or meditate. Do not let yourself continue to be anxious, as it can lead you down a path toward destruction. Remember, your conscious mind can affect your body! If you have in your thoughts that your body can be affected by your emotions, then you will make more to take time for yourself. Episode 3 – What you need to know about Sacral Chakra blockage.

Hi everyone. Jessica here. Welcome back to my chakra podcast series. Today I am going to discuss what you need to know about Sacral Chakra blockage.  In my prior episode, we explored the root chakra! If you haven’t listened to it, let me recap a bit. The root chakra is also known as the body’s primordial energy center, and is known to be integral to our security! Now, that we are in uncertain times in our world, it is very important to make sure this chakra is balanced! Attaining balance in the root chakra goes hand in hand with aligning your sacral chakra. The sacral chakra is right above the root chakra and it is closely linked with your creativity, receptivity, passionate nature, sensuality, and emotions1. If you have not listened to my root chakra podcast, I encourage you to listen to it prior to this one.

Sacral Plexus Chakra ( Svadisthana)

The Sacral Chakra sits between the reproductive organs, in the center of your lower abdomen, and represents the life force of creative potential 11. It is the chakra that is the center of physical procreation and is concerned with our physical well-being2.  It governs our ability to receive and allow more pleasure in our lives3.

How do you know if the Sacral Chakra is blocked?

How do you know if you have a Sacral Chakra blockage?When the Sacral Chakra is blocked or isn’t spinning with ease, your sense of creative potential is blocked. You may feel a lack of inspiration for a creative project, an inability to pursue your art or a loss of interest in it12. If you are trying to begin a keto diet, then it will be hard to start it if this chakra is not in balance.  When your sacral chakra is out of harmony you may have difficulty expressing your feelings. You may also experience issues around money and abundance, either placing an overemphasis on obtaining material goods or not owning to your abundance at all4. You may also feel like you are unable to let things go.

In many cases, Sacral Chakra blocks can last for years, if not decades, and in Western cultures are often thought to be associated with age. Many people think that it is natural to lose inspiration, sexual desire, or passion as we get older 13. This is not the case at all! If you are experiencing any of this, please consider that your Sacral Chakra may be blocked and work on getting it back in order. Sure, you can let your health care provider know, but also give your body a healing chance by doing things to balance this chakra!

Physical dysfunctions of Sacral Plexus Chakra

Some physical dysfunctions that may manifest if this chakra is left unattended to would include pelvic pain, chronic lower back pain, sciatica, gynecological problems, uterine/ bladder problems5.

Sacral Chakra Balancing

Meditation

When trying to rebalance this chakra you should include the following mantras in your reverence: I am creator, I am open to receive, and I feel deeply. Make sure you say these over and over during your meditation! This is really to reiterate to yourself which in turn will help you to affirm and really believe these words! Remember, you can allot 10-30 minutes of your time for meditation, but really all you need is 5 minutes of actual meditation time. This is so you don’t feel like you are in a hurry! After all, you want to show up for yourself!

How to do sacral meditation

You may start off your meditation seated in the lotus position or laying down. Either way, make sure you are very comfortable! Let your body completely relax! Close your eyes.  Start by taking three slow deep breaths. Inhale completely filling your lungs then exhale very slowly. Allow your whole body and all your limbs to become very heavy. If you are standing, you could even get in mountain pose like when you are doing yoga. Close your eyes and while you are doing that try to imagine a beautiful orange light that is getting larger.

Imagine a bright orange light

Imagine that there is a lot of energy emanating from the brilliant light. Continue on with the deep breathing exercises all the while making sure your exhalations are slow! As you are taking your breaths, you can place your hands above your hips or rest them right below the navel, all the while touching your belly. Ask your sacral plexus chakra the following question: what do you need right now? When the feedback presents itself, it may come in the form of words from a deceased loved one, image, or intuition.

Ask for feedback when you meditate

Remember, feedback is a process and may not be right away! It may take several meditations before you experience this feedback. Recently, I have recently had feedback where I have reverted to things my late mother had said in the past or have had visions of the house I grew up in! Feedback can be vivid, but remember this can be part of the process towards healing this chakra. During this meditation when you exhale, release all the tension and negativity that has accumulated in your guts and any sense of disharmony that may be around you(6). Then at the end of your meditation, make sure to take three cleansing breaths once again. I would repeat the three mantras that I had mentioned previously in this section to reaffirm everything.

Yoga

The poses to effectively open up this chakra include the following: any of the warrior poses ( warrior 1,2 and 3), happy baby, and downward-facing dog. I have had some imbalances in this chakra in the past, and I must say that after doing these positions, I have noticed that my self-expression has become more apparent. Remember that clothing is also important for yoga! I feel like anytime I dress for the “yoga” occasion, I always practice better! If you are interested, I would recommend you purchase your yoga gear at Yogamasti.  I love this company because they also have organic cotton yoga clothing.

Journaling and Blogging

Journaling is an excellent way to open up the sacral chakra. When we write, we use a form of self-expression, which allows this chakra to open up. If you become super inspired, you can even start a blog! At the beginning of the year, I knew my sacral chakra was opening up when I came up with the idea of starting a blog. For a long time, I had known that I wanted to write to help people and then one day I woke up and had an “AHA moment.” It was very enlightening!

Dancing

Dancing is another way to open up this energy center! An example would be Latin dances such as salsa and other dances that move the hip area,7 such as Zumba. If you have been thinking about taking up belly dancing, then do it! This type of dancing is a very good sacral plexus opening tool because it hones right on the sacral plexus chakra region. If you have a hula hoop in your garage, dust it off and get it out! Not only will you feel like a kid, but it is great for opening up this chakra!

Sacral Plexus foods

Some foods that will help open this up to include: sunflower seeds,  fish, and orange-colored foods. These can include oranges, carrots, sweet potatoes, apricots, mangos, and mandarins10. Now, I do realize that some of these foods may not be on your” keto-list.” If you are on a strict keto plan, such as 50 net carbs or less per day, then I would portion these types of foods out. For example, if you have one small mandarin, it is about 8.8 net carbs according to the app Cronometer. All you would have to do is include that in your carb count! If you do keto-carb cycling and do two days with 100-150 net carbs per day, you can have a bit more of these orange types of foods. Even in this case, remember portions do count and so do calories! Essential oils and Gemstones

The essential oils for the sacral plexus chakra include ylang-ylang, lemon, patchouli, rosewood, and sandalwood8. Some gemstones to consider include cornelian, tiger’s eye, and onyx.

I love essential oils and gemstones! They are fantastic for chakra opening. I have an essential oil and gemstone kit with the specific oils and gemstones that pertain to each of the seven chakras! I love this kit because you don’t have to sit there and think about which essential oil or which stone you need to use with each chakra. It already has it in there for you! Talk about convenient!

EMFs and sacral chakra imbalance

Overall, it seems that EMFs can interfere with any chakra! I have done research on EMFs, and I know that they can physiologically interfere with our bodies and can cause depression, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, cancer the list goes on. If you want to read more, please go to my article, Is your smartphone toxic to your health? It seems to me if they have the potential to cause this physical dysfunction, then they can contribute to chakra imbalance. Think about it; we know that when our chakras are out of balance, they can cause physical or psychological disease. So it would make sense that EMFs would serve to contribute to this imbalance! They are essentially interfering with our organs to compensate, which will throw our chakras off!

EMF blocking devices

Fortunately, there are ways to help block EMFs. We are so reliant on technology with our smartphones and computers that it is hard to get rid of them! I mean, we could, but it would be hard to function. So we are left to deal. You can purchase several devices, which will help block EMFs in your home or smartphone. However, the one I highly recommend is the QI device.

I love this tool because it can block out radiation in your home or office! The QI device will protect you from cellular (including 5G), wifi, and other EMF fields. In summary, as holistic keto goddesses, our creative expression via the sacral chakra is essential to our relationships and our day-to-day activities. If this chakra is well taken care of, then the physical body is vital and energetic for well into your senior years9. Hi. Jessica here. This is the first podcast of a series that that will be dedicated to teaching you about the seven different chakras! In the prior episode, I spoke about how crucial it is for you to balance your chakras to acheive balance in your life. Did you realize that having proper chakra alignment is just as important as having a good diet? Today, I am going to talk about the root chakra and discuss different ways to nourish this little energy center!

Root chakra ( Muladhara)

The location for the root chakra is at the base of the spine. When the root chakra is out of balance, there is an inability to trust nature. We may feel ungrounded, disconnected from mother earth, have issues around tribal beliefs or family wounds, and do not feel secure in our knowledge that our most basic needs are being met ( food, shelter, clothing, and love). We may function out of fear and do not feel safe1. Some physical dysfunctions that may manifest are chronic lower back pain, varicose veins, rectal tumors/cancer, hemorrhoids, constipation, degenerative arthritis, depression, knee problems, weight problems, etc 1.

How to get root chakra back in order

Okay! So now that you know about some of the scary things that may happen if your root chakra is out of balance ( aka cancer I’m looking at you), let’s examine how we can get it back in order!

 

Mantras

Did you know that mantras are very powerful for balancing the root chakra? Types of mantras for this chakra should include: I trust, I am supported, I am safe to be myself, I ground down to rise up, I am loved, etc2. Make sure you say these over and over during your meditation or event throughout the day! I like to say mantras also when I meditate or during my daily yoga practice. It really helps me to believe what I am saying is true!

How to do root chakra meditation

Now let me talk about how you could do a root chakra meditation. First, start by taking three slow deep breaths. Inhale completely filling your lungs then exhale very slowly. Allow your whole body and all your limbs to become very heavy. If you are standing, you could even get in mountain pose like when you are doing yoga. Close your eyes and just try to imagine a beautiful red light and that it is getting larger. Imagine that there is a lot of energy emanating from the brilliant light. Continue on with the deep breathing exercises all the while making sure your exhalations are slow! As you breathe out, also release your breath down through your legs. Ask your root chakra the following question: what do you need right now?

You may even wait for feedback after you have taken a few deep breaths. This could present in the form of a song, words, or maybe even the color red of the root chakra. Sometimes receiving feedback could take a while so be patient with yourself! Enjoy the process. Towards the end of the meditation also take some deep breaths directing your energy to the ground.

Move very slowly when opening your eyes. Take your time! When you a lot of time for meditation make sure it is at least 10-15 minutes. Even though you can make the meditation itself like 5 minutes. The important thing here is you don’t want to feel rushed!

Yoga

Yoga is another wonderful way to balance the root chakra! YouTube has some wonderful videos for balancing this! A good grounding yoga practice video you can find here. There are numerous ones available via YouTube that you can visit. Remember that the root chakra is about stability and support3, so corresponding asanas would be standing poses that strengthen the legs and ability to ground. These poses would include warrior I, warrior II, tree pose, and chair pose4.

When I do yoga, I treat it as a ritual and try always to be as formal as possible. By that, I mean, I dress for the occasion. Even if I am not going to a class, I always try to put on yoga clothing. The reason for this being is mind-set. I would compare it to say going to an interview in dress clothes. When you do this, you feel professional, and therefore you perform much better. It’s the same with yoga. I have noticed that I perform much better when I am in the appropriate attire. If you are wondering where the best place to purchase, I would recommend ordering at Yogamasti. Grounding

Walking barefoot

Did you know that walking barefoot on the ground can have some beneficial health benefits and open up your root chakra? There is an actual term for this which is grounding.  Grounding is connecting with the earth both physically and spiritually. It is the key to physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being. It creates emotional stability, and calms and clarifies the mind 8. An effective way to open up your root chakra is to incorporate grounding into your life!

There are several ways that you can do this! As I mentioned before, walking barefoot on the ground is an excellent way to create these benefits. However, there are times where you may not be able to do this because of rocks or adverse ground conditions. In this case, you can purchase a grounding mat from Earthing.com. I love the grounding mats because they are also very good for helping with radiation from our cell phones. Gardening

Another way to ground, is to incorporate gardening into your life! Anytime, we place our hands or feet onto or into Mother Earth, we are establishing a direct connection with her and helping to stabilize our root chakra. The awesome thing about starting a garden is that you can incorporate some beautiful flowers in it which will also help save our bees. Imagine how much it would help if millions of people all over the world did a bee garden! Think about all the lives of bees that you can save!

Hiking

Hiking is another great method to ground! Did you know that hiking helps you to connect to the trees and stabilize your root chakra? I even suggest hugging a tree if you want to! Trees have a vibrational pattern that affects biological behaviors within the human body. So when you touch a tree, the vibrational pattern it gives off initiates energy changes within you. When you hug a tree, energy starts to flow much stronger, dislodging any negative energy, which may be currently blocking your chakras9.

Eat root vegetables

Did you know that certain root vegetables are excellent for opening up the root chakra? I like to incorporate sweet potatoes a few times a week to help! Remember, there is a way to add in sweet potatoes and remain “keto-friendly.” It is all about portion control! If you weigh out a sweet potato around 3 oz, then it will be around 12.9 net carbs in Cronometer! All you would do is just record it in your daily net carb intake!

Gems and essential oils to open up chakras

It is also known that certain types of gems will open up your chakras. A ruby contains the essence of vitality and the regenerative forces. A handful of this stone can strengthen and revive the heart. It represents the life force in all its power and is valued for its beauty, fire, and sense of spirit5. Hematite is a magnetic ore with high density. Its silver color attracts the eye and its magnetic qualities make it good for grounding the spirit. Carrying the stone in one’s pocket can help keep one’s consciousness focused and grounded6. I love this set because it contains not only essential oils but also gemstones that will correspond to each chakra.   The ones that correspond with the root chakra are myrrh, vetiver, sandalwood, patchouli, and spikenard7.

 

In conclusion, having balance in our Root Chakra is acknowledging that we have a good life. As holistic keto goddesses, we should always put gratitude first in our life, and then that will help with grounding to this energy level. A functional Root Chakra must be rid of narrow beliefs. When we have a clear understanding that the Source exists within each one of us, we are more open to what unites us than what separates us 8. Look within your inner goddess and open your heart to those around you! You are safe and have the ability to be trusting to those whom you love! Namaste!

The reason why doing a keto diet alone is not good enough

Hi everyone. Jessica here. Today I am going to talk about the keto diet and chakra balance for your health! So how long have you been following the keto diet? Has it been 2 or maybe even 3 years? Are you still struggling with different inflammation woes such as chronic pain? You may have thought by now that you should be feeling better since you are on a diet that decreases inflammation. Yes, a keto diet does help with this by fueling your mitochondria, but it is not good enough by itself. You still have to do things to help acheive energetic balance to help align your chakras. Did you know that the keto diet may even help with energetic balance which will, in turn, align your chakras?

When I talk about energetic balance, I speak of your chakras or energy centers. It turns out that these little energy centers are essential to your well-being and are wonderful nutrients for your soul! Often, we get so caught up in following a particular diet, or this type of exercise, or going to the gym, and we fail to take time to acknowledge how we are actually affected on an energetic basis. We don’t worry about how we feel about a certain event, a certain person, or if we feel insecure or powerless.

We think, “oh, these are just emotions and they aren’t going to affect me. How can they affect my health?” Well, that is not true! Turns out that these emotions that you feel will absolutely affect your health! In this podcast, I am going to get you up to speed on why a keto diet alone is not enough for you to acheive wellness! It is crucial to include the keto diet and chakra balance for your health!

First, let’s talk about what chakras are and how they are relevant

Depending on your knowledge base, you may not know what a chakra really is or what the main function is for the body. Maybe you didn’t realize that the incorporation of the keto diet and chakra balance is crucial for your health? Maybe you thought it was somewhat hokey? I think the main objective of starting my blog was to open up my people to the chakra system.

Well, I got news for you, it is nothing to do with any of that. It is very serious and is not hokey and if not tended will cause disease.  I think that one of my main objectives in my blog is to open people up to the Chakra system. ! I don’t want people to think it’s associated with a religion, or being a hippie, or anything like that. There is no label associated with a chakra. It is a necessity to know for your life.

What are chakras?

So as I mentioned earlier, your chakras are little energy centers in your body. The majority of the time, we address seven different chakras; however, I have seen that there are more! In this podcast, I am going to talk about the seven of them! I don’t know if you realize this or not, but like I was saying before, these chakras are closely tied to your health. If they are not in balance,  they could lead to mental disorders or even disease. If you are experiencing any emotional issues or health problems, you may have a blocked chakra. When I first learned that disease or even cancer can manifest if a chakra is left unattended to, it was a huge wake-up call for me. It was at that point; I realize that I needed to pay attention to these little energy centers in my body!

Seven major chakras

The seven major chakras, which means wheel in Sanskrit, are energy centers within the body. We focus on these major seven: muladhara (root), svadisthana (spleen or sacral), manipura (solar plexus), anahata (heart), visuddha (throat), ajna (third eye), and sahasrara (crown). These chakras can be visualized as spinning wheels of energy that can become slow, sluggish, or blocked. The ability for energy to flow freely within the chakras affects us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We can learn to sense blockages by creating awareness of our own energy, physical sensations, and emotional states.

How to balance these chakras?

Now that I have done a brief overview of the seven different chakras, I am going to talk about how to balance them. So far, I have written about three articles on my blog, which I have addressed three different chakras. I started from the base of the spine, and I am essentially working my way up. So my first article was on the root chakra, then I went to sacral and recently wrote an article on solar plexus chakra.  You can refer to these articles; they are on the root chakra,  sacral, and solar plexus chakras.

Ways to balance

When it comes to balancing these little energy centers, you can incorporate things such as meditation into your life or yoga. That’s what I do. I have found that meditation and yoga are wonderful balancing tools.   It is also good to incorporate colors or even foods to help balance. I like different colored stones and essential oils can also help to align your chakras!  Each chakra is associated with a color, food, and mantra that is involved with it. For example, if you are wanting to balance your root chakra, then focus on a mantra such as “I am safe”, or eat root vegetables such as sweet potatoes or carrots, and wear red. That’s just an example of that chakra.

Praying can help balance.

I think that even praying to God can help balance your chakras! Or whoever else it is you pray to in your religion.  If you do pray, I still think it is also very beneficial to try to incorporate some of the appropriate colored stones, foods, or oils that are specific to the chakra where you feel is off.

How to know your chakras need a good balance.

I have gotten to the point where I can tell exactly which chakra may be off. For example, I know my root chakra is off if I have safety concerns related to what the future holds in our world.  In this case, when I meditate, I use essential oils that are tailored toward this root chakra, such as myrrh, vetiver, sandalwood, patchouli, and spikenard.  I purchased the Chakra set which includes 7 essential oil blends and 7 chakra stones that you can use to achieve balance. Learning how to tell if you have a chakra out of balance

Once you learn which feelings are associated with each chakra, then you will slowly be able to tell which one is in balance or not. For another example, feelings of loss of willpower are associated with your solar plexus chakra. So for instance, if you noticed a lot of weight gain recently, well your solar plexus chakra may be off. Let’s say you have been dieting and doing all these things to lose weight but have not addressed the willpower aspect then you will not lose weight. If you would like to read more on this, please refer to my solar plexus chakra article. In there, I have weight loss and willpower tied to the balance of your solar plexus chakra.

The important thing when learning which chakra you need to balance is to be patient with yourself, as this may take time. You first have to learn which emotions are associated with which chakra is out of balance. Once you learn that, you will have a better ability to tell which chakra will need to be balanced. This takes time but believe me, it will come! While I was still learning this, I used tools online, such as a chakra quiz, to help me. You can go to Yogapedia.com and they have one there that is really good.

I plan on posting articles and doing more podcasts on each of the chakras in the future, but for now, you can go to my blog to see the articles that I have posted thus far. The Keto diet is good for moods.

So how exactly is the keto diet relevant to chakra balance when it comes to your health? First, let’s review the keto diet and see how it is relevant to our moods. The ketogenic diet (KD) is a low-carb diet that substantially changes the energetic matrix of the body, including the brain. Preclinical studies, case reports, and case series have demonstrated antidepressant and mood-stabilizing effects of KD. When you choose to go keto, it is a wise choice, and it will benefit you in many ways. Not only does it help with weight loss, but it is advantageous for your brain. Time after time, it is evident that the keto diet will help elevate moods and also improve energy levels. I have noticed that when I am following a strict keto diet, I feel more optimistic and seem to have a better outlook on life.

The Keto diet may set the stage for helping to open up chakras.

Overall, I feel as if the keto diet, may help to set the stage to help you open up your chakras. I think that the mood-stabilizing effects from it may serve to make you feel “happier” and thus more motivated to want to help stabilize your chakras. There have been times where I have strayed from a keto diet and have eaten sugar. I must admit-I am human, but I feel like every time I do it, “I say I don’t want to do that again.”

I must say that it makes me feel more negative, and almost even contributes to me having more of a negative perspective on life. It is amazing how different sugar can make you feel! Due to that feeling, I just avoid it altogether. I don’t need anything in life that is going to make me feel worse, we already have a lot to deal with nowadays. If you know what I mean.

Incorporate chakra balancing foods with the keto diet

Now, it is important to realize to incorporate chakra-specific foods along with a keto diet. For example, to help balance the root chakra, it is important to incorporate eating root vegetables such as sweet potatoes or carrots. These foods are higher in carbohydrates, but it is still crucial to incorporate these into your diet. As a general rule, you follow a strict keto diet for around 3 weeks and then add in these types of carbs maybe twice a week if you want. Please refer to my keto carb cycling article regarding this information.

So I think that the keto diet and chakra balance go hand in hand. A lot of times people fail to address this! As I mentioned earlier, a lot of us get so caught up in the “perfect diet”, which in my world is the keto diet, or the perfect exercise or the perfect supplement. We don’t think about how we are affected on an energetic level or if our chakras are in balance.

Now is the perfect time to start keto!

Are you intrigued to learn about the keto diet and chakra balance for your health? If you are wondering if there is a perfect time to start the keto, think again. I have seen many people just dive right in! There are some common rules for the keto diet, but they are pretty easy to follow. Prior to starting, I highly recommend that you purchase either a Keto-Mojo monitor or a Keyto Breath sensor.  Both are highly effective methods for monitoring your ketones.

The difference is that the keto-mojo checks your ketones via your blood and is able to detect BHBs, which are the most effective way to check because the result not affected by breath or urine. However, an advantage of the Keyto breath sensor is that it checks ketones via your breath and it is good because you can use it over and over, which is cheaper. Need to do 3 weeks of 20-30 net or total carbs per day

Also, remember with keto, it is imperative to do your initial 3 weeks or 30 days of 20-30 net carbs(total carbs) per day or less! After that, if you want, you can start to add in more carbs at least a few days a week and start cycling in your carbs then great! If you want to stay in this initial phase for longer, then that is fine too. Just remember that certain foods with higher carbs, such as sweet potatoes or mangos, have essential nutrients so you should eventually include those in your diet every now and then.  It does not have to be every week! My wake up call

So, I know this was me, for the longest time I thought I have to “eat this” or  I have to do “this to be healthy” or I have to take” this supplement.” But I woke up about a year ago and realized that I needed to incorporate the keto diet with chakra balance for my health! I realized this after  I saw a naturopath in the town that I live in, and he did an electrodermal screen (EDS) test on me. After he did this test, I realized my organs were being affected on an energetic level.  He also looked at my chakras ( which were out of balance).

Disease manifests energetically before physically

So how is this important? Well, a lot of time before a disease manifests physically, it will show up energetically on the EDS and will also show that your chakras are out of balance. So this type of tool that he used on me is very beneficial because you can use homeopathic remedies and lifestyle interventions, such as meditation, to help balance your chakras. This, in turn, will help prevent the manifestation of disease.

So as a nurse practitioner, I felt very intrigued by this because it was then that I learned there is more to disease prevention than supplements, diet, or exercise. Yes, these are very important, but what is also very pertinent is our chakra balance via emotions. That was when I decided to incorporate more “peace” in my life, by adding in yoga and meditation. Ever since I have done that, It has helped me tremendously and I have noticed that some of my ailments have subsided.

So that is why I am here, and that is what has inspired me to write a blog. I wanted to educate people on the chakra system and make people realize that there are things you can do emotionally aside from the physical, to help tend to your body and help prevent disease from manifesting.
